Eligibility

In order to qualify for a judged award, all projects must meet these basic requirements:

  • All members of your team must be registered and checked-in for IDC 2025.

  • Submissions must be made by 2:00pm on Sunday, March 30th. There will be a grace period of 15 minutes for technical difficulties.

  • You must be registered for only one team of  4 members or less.. If you changed teams after submitting a team registration, please contact Staff to have your team changed.

  • Your project must have been created during the hours of the submission period (Thursday 7pm to Sunday 2pm).

  • You may only submit one project per design challenge

Project and Submission Requirements

All submissions will be made on the IDC 2025 Devpost. The deadline for submissions is Sunday, March 30th at 2:00pm. For CAD files and other renders, we recommend you use GrabCAD to host and share your designs. We will be hosting a submission workshop at 12:00 pm on Sunday, March 30th to discuss submission requirements, followed by submission office hours until 2pm.

Prizes

First Place: $300

Second Place: $200

In addition to awarding first place, the winning team will receive a 3D-printed model of the product they designed.

Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

How novel / out-of-the-box is the solution?

  • - Is the design complete? Using fundamental engineering principles / knowledge to meet all criteria.

  •  - How plausible is the design in both the present and the future? Can it realistically be manufactured?

  •  - How safe is it to be used / maintained? Environmental and human impact.

  •  - Was the information presented useful? Additional information that added value? Did it directly answer the question? Was there unnecessary information? Rendering of CAD.

  • Effectiveness- To what extent does the design provide support to the end user?
